Yesterday, April 22, Combined Transport Terminal – Dobrá and the transshipment facilities in Čierna nad Tisou were visited by representatives of EU Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport and the State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Transport, Denisa Žiláková. ZSSK CARGO demonstrated the transshipment of various items, such as sheet metal, steel coils, grain, palletized freight, or iron ore. At Combined Transport Terminal – Dobrá, the guests were shown platform wagons with various types of superstructures for the transport of these commodities, as well as cement tanks and wood.
The purpose of the visit was for the EC representatives to learn more about the project set up to develop the facilities in Dobrá and Čierna nad Tisou. As Denisa Žiláková explained, this project is supposed to be part of the support for Ukraine declared by the Slovak government. The goal is not only to renovate the infrastructure of transshipment points, but also to replace the vehicle fleet, modernize transshipment mechanisms and ramps, as well as build new storage areas. Blueprints are already being prepared. Within two to three years after their approval, the EC could provide tens of millions of euros to fund their implementation. At the meetings with the EC representatives not only technical solutions, but also the importance and benefits of such investments are to be demonstrated. In addition to the modernization and the increase in transshipment capacities, the project will also play a significant role in the modernization of Ukraine after the war conflict, when a significant increase in reverse logistics, i.e. from the west to the east is expected.
