ZSSK CARGO will modernise 10 more 742.6 series locomotives

ZSSK CARGO has confirmed an option for 10 morel 742.6 series locomotives, which are a complete upgrade of 742 series locomotives to the EffiShunter 1000M type with the Czech manufacturer CZ LOKO. Only the frame and the undercarriage of the original locomotives have been retained, all other parts of the locomotive are new.

In addition to the original contract for 20 locomotives of this type (10 of which have already been delivered), there was an option for a further 20, of which 10 have just been confirmed - all with ETCS installation and approval for operation also in the Czech Republic and Hungary.

ZSSK CARGO will deliver the locomotives to the manufacturer at a cadence of one per month, and the manufacturer will have one year to upgrade each locomotive. Most of the locomotives will be modernised at the Croatian TŽV Gredelj.

A dozen locomotives from the new option should be delivered by the end of 2026.
